Abstract
The development of information and communication technology in the 21th century has opened the era of ¡®Big data¡¯. Access to a wide range of databases will be the driving force of pharmacoepidemiologic approaches to drug safety and regulatory assessment. Neighboring Japan, one of the leading countries in healthcare, has established medical information database network (MID-NET), and is the primary source for drug safety assessments in the country. This paper addresses the process and experience of MID-NET establishment and suggests the future direction of Korea considering its current state in utilizing Real World Data/Real World Evidence (RWD/RWE).
